Sr. Research Data Coordinator opportunity in Anesthesiology, Critical Care & Pain – Research Support.  Ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent and four years of related experience. Research study experience obtained from data gathering or related field.  Experience with anesthesia-related research. 




To provide administrative and patient care services for the coordination of research studies




Protocol Administration and Reporting
Assist in the protocol planning, submission, and corresponds with IRB for approval/activation.

Develops and maintains system for controlling paper flow and electronic data management for protocols and research data including medical, surgical and perioperative information extracted from medical records and other source documents. 


Works with the principal investigator to collect and develop criteria information for protocol submission.

Works with principal investigator to compile protocol data for manuscript submission
Evaluates and interprets data and provides results to investigators to support publication.  Develop progress reports (interim and final) to send to the sponsors (both government agencies and private sponsors).

Maintain regulatory binders


Research Activities
Collects, evaluates, interprets, and documents research data to accomplish the objectives of a wide variety of scientific experiments and research projects.

Obtain patient consent for studies, collect data while maintain patient confidentiality
Develops database specific to protocol needs for the purpose of data collection and assists with data analysis

Responsible for completion of data forms for coding and data collection purposes.
Collaborates with physicians, mid-level practitioners, research nurses and data coordinators to document patient care.

Influences project direction and outcomes by identifying opportunities to enhance, terminate, or re-direct research activities.


Assists in the preparation and writing of research reports, manuscripts, papers, and grant proposals, for presentation and publication. 

Mentor students/volunteers on taking consent and data collection; supervise the research assistant; and train residents/attending on using airway devices per protocol instructions

Ability to develop and present posters regarding research interests at scientific conferences.

Assists principal investigator and research manager in the collection and evaluation of data, enters data into case report forms and maintains necessary data for audits


Coordinate with Grant program coordinator to develop budgets and assist in grant preparation for sponsored projects.  

Order supplies for research, organize research staff meetings to resolve issues and prioritize activities.

Organize and participate in Texas Society of Anesthesiology Difficult Airway Workshop and the bi-monthly pig tracheas labs.

Participates in writing of manuscripts and protocols as needed.

Maintains quality control checks and a safe environment in compliance with all governmental and University policies, rules, regulation and codes.

Attends clinical research protocol planning meetings and workshops as required.  Assist in the preparation of annual review renewals.



Required: High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred: Bachelor’s level degree.




Required: Four years of related experience.  May substitute required experience with completed years of college on a one to one basis. 

Preferred: Three years of research study experience obtained from data gathering or related field. Experience with anesthesia-related research.
