Supervisor, Public Safety
The mission of The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center is to eliminate cancer in Texas, the nation, and the world through outstanding programs that integrate patient care, research and prevention, and through education for undergraduate and graduate students, trainees, professionals, employees and the public.
The primary purpose of the Supervisor, Public Safety is to plan and supervise the daily activities of UTPD Public Safety Officers and Sr. Public Safety Officers, to be the main contact and resolution point for building occupants in order to resolve security and safety issues and to maintain and implement olicies, procedures and operational plans for ensuring safety and security.
Provide leadership, supervision, training and professional development of Public Safety Officers and Sr. Public Safety Officers. Conduct annual and periodic performance reviews for assigned personnel and provide periodic compliance reports to management.
Provide technical expertise to resolve safety and security issues involving personnel and other institutional staff. Respond to calls for service and provide requested services in a timely and accurate manner and in accordance with polices and procedures.
Meet and confir with law enforcement personnel and directly support police initiatives in university buildings and on property through intelligent surveillance or as a patrol activity to prevent crime.
Education Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience Required: Five years of experience in a security or related field to include two years of supervisory/team lead experience.
Successful completion of the LEADing Self Accelerate and/or LEADing Self Discover programs may substitute for one year of required supervisory or management experience. Completion of both programs can be substituted for a maximum of two years of supervisory or management experience. Valid Texas Class A, B, or C driver's license. Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
