Surgical Technologist - Main OR
EDUCATION
Required: High School Diploma
Preferred: Graduation from an approved
Surgical Tech program
EXPERIENCE
Required: None.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION
If hired on or after September 1, 2009, must meet
one of the following stipulations outlined by the Texas Department State of
Health Services:
Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) by the
National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).
New graduate must obtain and maintain certification by the 180th day after date
of graduation from an accredited school of surgical technologist;
Employed to practice surgical technology in a health care facility prior to
September 1, 2009; OR,
Completed appropriate training program for surgical technology in the military
of the United States or in the United State Public Health Service.
If hired as Surgical Technologist before
September 1, 2009 not subject to certification requirement as per Texas
Department of State Health Services.
