Summary
 
The primary purpose of the Training Specialist is to impact the effectiveness of institutional learning by delivering a world-class training and educational experience to employees at all levels and across all departments of the organization. These training programs will be designed, developed, and delivered in support of the strategies developed by the Division of Human Resources to support the institution’s strategic learning objectives.
 
Key Functions 
  • Serves as steward of courses that comprise the Employee Development Curricula.  This includes mastery of subject matter, effective and consistent delivery of content, continuous program evaluation and improvement, and the development, updating and maintenance of all course related materials (instructor guides, participant manuals, electronic presentations, etc.).

     

  • Diagnoses training needs/conducts assessments for individual work groups and plans and facilitates training solutions to address any appropriate training issues.  Collaborates with the HR Generalist Organization to help communicate the HR Consultant’s role before, during, and after any training takes place.  Develops and monitors time lines and budgets for individual projects, in accordance with department guidelines. 
     
  • Provides coaching and expertise to employees and managers across the organization, as well as to HR team members as needed. 
     
  • Develops and maintains professional knowledge and skills to enhance overall credibility and effectiveness in the Training Specialist role.
     
  • Participates in institutional and community based events that promote education and personal/professional development.

 
 

 

Education:

Required: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field.  

Preferred: Advanced degree in related field

 

License/Certification:

Preferred: CPLP and/or (S)PHR certification; Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) qualified; certification in other training programs such as Achieve-Global, Franklin Covey, DDI, PDI, Blessing-White, or others.
 

Experience:

Required: Seven years experience in human resources or related field in developing, coordinating and delivering employee development programs for all levels of employees and management. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience.

Preferred: Seven or more years experience as a senior Human Resources consultant. Experience in a leadership or management role; experience delivering management training programs in a healthcare environment.
