Ultrasound Technologist

The Ultrasound Technologist in Interventional Radiology performs highquality ultrasound imaging exams and provides exceptional patient care for individuals undergoing procedures ordered by a physician. This role supports a fastpaced, teamfocused clinical environment and contributes to both clinical excellence and service excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Imaging & Clinical Expertise
Perform ultrasound imaging using approved protocols and escalate questions before beginning procedures.
Conduct routine, immediate care, portable, oncall, biopsy, and intraoperative exams following departmental standards.
Apply sterile or aseptic techniques and administer contrast agents when appropriate.
Review medications and allergies and follow the five rights of drug administration.
Recognize and communicate gross pathological findings to the radiologist.
Maintain advanced knowledge of routine and specialized protocols and perform exams independently with a high degree of accuracy.
Ensure accurate documentation, coding, and charging of exams.
Participate in quality assurance activities and collaborate to resolve image quality or equipment issues.
Patient Care & Safety
Provide safe, attentive, and compassionate care to all patients.
Correctly verify patient identity using approved identifiers.
Implement all safety and fallprevention measures and recognize signs of patient distress.
Activate appropriate emergency procedures when needed (nurse/physician notification, DIURT, CODE).
Maintain clean, organized, and wellstocked work areas, including emergency supplies.
Follow ALARA and Image Gently principles at all times to protect patients.
Follow downtime procedures during system outages and report to supervisors for reassignment.
Report equipment malfunctions promptly to the appropriate teams.
Service, Productivity & Professionalism
Provide consistent, professional, and respectful communication with patients, families, staff, and faculty.
Maintain high productivity and assist with department needs, including patient transport and workflow support.
Demonstrate strong critical thinking skills to manage patient flow and minimize delays.
Complete assigned duties and communicate effectively during shift handoff.
Work flexible schedules, including early/late shifts, multiple locations, and rotational oncall assignments (including holidays, as needed).
Perform additional duties as assigned.

EDUCATION
- Required: Graduation from an accredited program of ultrasound technology or radiologic technology.
- Preferred: Bachelor's Degree Related field.
WORK EXPERIENCE
- Preferred: 2 years Experience in diagnostic ultrasound.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
- Required: RT(S) - Sonography American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Sonography (ARRT-S). Upon Hire or
- Required: RT(BS) - Breast Sonography American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Breast Sonography (ARRT-BS). Upon Hire or
- Required: RT(VS) - Vascular Sonography American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT-VS). Upon Hire or
- Required: RVS - Reg Vascular Specialist Cardiovascular Credentialing International Vascular Sonography. Upon Hire or
- Required: RDMS - Reg Diag Medical Sonographer American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS). Upon Hire and
- Required: BLS - Basic Life Support Upon Hire
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
