Background

Through the Employer Direct Program, MD Anderson is teaming with employers to support a healthy and productive workforce. The Employer Direct Program offers a supplemental benefits program to large, self-funded employers in the US and furthers the collective endeavor of Making Cancer History®.

Summary

The Assistant Vice President, Employer Direct Program leads the operational execution of the Employer Direct Program and supports the expansion of MD Anderson’s employer relationships.   

Core responsibilities:

  • Manages the execution of the Employer Direct Program including operational management of the program and associated products and services
  • Oversees the expansion of the Employer Direct Program products and services, ensuring the establishment of an efficient and effective infrastructure supported by standardized operating processes and procedures
  • Provides organizational leadership to develop a strategic plan for employer relations and engagement at MD Anderson that supports the institutional mission and strategic priorities
  • Cultivates strong relationships with MD Anderson leadership to obtain buy-in and support for the Employer Direct Program from the senior management team and other production, operational, and clinical teams
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams including MD Anderson Physicians Network teams (Business Development, Operations, and Finance), MD Anderson teams (Treasury Services & Operations, Ambulatory Services, and Community Relations & Education), and others as needed
  • Assists the Business Development team by providing input, guidance, and strategic support for business development initiatives to identify and purse new employers, including developing relationships with employers, health benefit consultants, and key employer associations
  • Develops and implements robust data collection and reporting mechanisms to generate appropriate analyses to substantiate the value generated from the Employer Direct Program and communicates results to internal stakeholders and employers as appropriate
  • Establishes performance measures and metrics to ensure that the Employer Direct Program’s processes are consistent with industry best practices
  • Obtains feedback and recommendations on the Employer Direct Program products and services from current employers and develops case studies to share with current and future employers
  • Develops business cases for new and innovative products and service offerings within the Employer Direct Program
  • Oversees the preparation of financial and operating reports that reflect the performance of the Employer Direct Program products and services
  • Provides guidance and support for the marketing and communications of the Employer Direct Program externally and internally  
  • Oversees a team of account mangers assigned to each employer

Experience required:

  • Minimum seven years of experience working in a management role within a dynamic, complex healthcare or consulting organization
  • Experience working with employer direct programs and strategies
  • Experience working in a matrix management environment with an emphasis in healthcare operations and business management and development
  • Experience working in a start-up or other similar environment
  • Bachelor’s degree required
Travel: Some travel will be required
