Education

Required:  Master’s degree in nursing, healthcare administration or business.  In order to maintain the institution’s designation as a Magnet organization, if the Master’s degree is not in nursing, then either a baccalaureate or doctoral degree must be in nursing.

Preferred:    Doctoral degree
 

Experience

Required: Ten (10) years of experience as a transformational nurse executive leader who possesses the skills to clearly articulate a vision, be innovative, inspire others, and set high expectations for achievement; five (5) years of experience as a Chief Nursing Officer or Assistant/Associate Chief Nursing Officer in a highly matrixed academic hospital.

Preferred:     Ten (10) years of experience as a Chief Nursing Officer in an academic hospital environment.


Licensure/Certification

Required: State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN)

Nurse Executive Board Certification (NE-BC / NEA-BC) via ANCC or equivalent bodies e.g., AONL reflecting executive leadership skills and capabilities or commitment to complete within 36 months of hire.
