Education

High School Diploma

Preferred:   Health Information Management (Associate and/or Bachelor degree)
Health Information Technology (Associate and/or Bachelor degree) 

Experience: None
Preferred:  Two years of health related experience.

Preferred License/Certification 
One of the following through the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) or American Health Information Association (AHIMA) Certifications:

Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)  
Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)
Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)
Certified Coding Specialist – Physician based (CCS-P)
Certified Coding Associate (CCA) 
Certified Professional Coder (CPC)
Certified Professional Coder Hospital (CPCH)
