The Department of Clinical Effectiveness (CE) is comprised of health care professionals who are committed to making a significant difference in the care of our patients. Clinical Effectiveness staff provides support and direction from a global perspective for a variety of institutional efforts: Algorithm development and update; Ordering tool creation and update; Institutional policy development and update; Provide/evaluate data for related CE projects; Projects to improve/enhance patient care; Troubleshoot concerns with ordering tools; Act as consultants to our Network Partners throughout the nation; Support CE Subcommittee activities, Commission on Cancer (CoC) efforts, and Molecular Testing Evaluation Committee (MTEC); Poster presentations and publications.


The Clinical Effectiveness Specialist manages systems of care to achieve desired patient and program outcomes for assigned patient populations and patient care tools. This impacts patient safety and clinician work flow for patient care as it relates to patient care tools throughout the institution.



Assesses and analyzes processes used in patient care and patient care tools and identifies opportunities for improvement. Collaborates with management to develop, monitor and report on department deliverables. Evaluates issues as related to current standards and processes of the development and maintenance of patient care tools. Develops a collaborative practice model with physicians and other health care providers. Provides data analysis and feedback to practitioners regarding outcomes and processes of care.


Required: Master's degree from an accredited school of Professional Nursing or a Physician Assistant training program or a Pharm.D. Degree from an accredited college of pharmacy.


Required:  Four years of clinical experience to include two years of program or project management experience -OR- Pharmacy Practice Residency (PGY1) and Residency in the area of specialization (PGY2).


Required: Current license and/or certification as defined by the TSBPAE or TSBNE as required for clinical licensure as an Advanced Practice Nurse or Physician Assistant or current licensure to practice pharmacy by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.
