Join MD Anderson’s Energy & Utility Programs team—an essential part of how we design, operate, and optimize more than 17 million square feet of mission‑critical healthcare, research, and support space. Our team has driven a 40% reduction in energy intensity over the past two decades, and we’re now focused on the next chapter of innovation, reliability, and performance optimization.

This is a unique opportunity to practice energy engineering at a scale and complexity rarely found in the industry. You’ll work across world‑class hospital and research environments where your expertise directly supports MD Anderson’s mission and impacts comfort, safety, reliability, and financial stewardship.

What Makes This Department a Great Place to Work:

  • You’ll collaborate with highly skilled partners across Facilities, including operations, design & construction, planning, controls, and finance.
  • The work is dynamic and hands‑on—combining field investigation, analytics, optimization, and strategic planning.
  • Projects deliver visible results, from measurable utility savings to improved comfort and more reliable systems.
  • You’ll influence both new construction and long‑term operations, following initiatives from concept through commissioning and sustained performance.
  • Our facilities include complex central plants, specialized healthcare environments, laboratories, and miles of interconnected systems—giving you exposure to some of the most challenging engineering environments in the field.

If you’re motivated by meaningful work, enjoy solving complex system challenges, and want to shape the future of a world‑leading cancer center’s built environment, this is the team for you.

We are looking for an experienced energy professional with 5+ years of hands‑on experience in energy conservation, commissioning, or building performance optimization within complex healthcare, research, higher education, or commercial facilities.
