Facilities Planning & Design Manager
Ideal candidate will have ten years experience in the design and planning of science and technology/research and clinical environments; experience managing and coordinating with architects and engineers; well versed in regulatory requirements.
SUMMARY
The primary purpose of the Manager for Facilities Planning and Design is to provide supervision, management, and direction in connecting capital projects to MDACC's current strategic plan, evaluating the use of MDACC’s physical facilities and provide effective utilization of facilities planning resources. This includes assisting the Director with creating and communicating procedures, work flows, standards, and operating principles governing staff efforts. This position is also responsible for directing staff providing institutional standards for space allocation, predictive space and capital modeling, space programming, and project support.
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
Master Planning/Space Modeling /Space Programming Strategic Master Planning, Space Modeling, and Space Programming, including providing management of strategic master planning and facilities planning studies, predictive space and capital modeling for MD Anderson strategic global initiatives, space programming, and documentation.
Space Standards Space Standards, including assisting in directing the investigation, development, revision, documentation, and implementation of institutional standards programs for space allocation, as well as the associated institutional policies & procedures.
Coordination Coordination with Facilities Planning Managers to ensure alignment and efficient use of resources within the Facilities Planning Services Group.
Document Management Document Management including budget reports, policies and procedures, and associated departmental web pages. Directs the creation, refinement, and utilization of standard templates.
Other Duties as assigned
Required: Bachelor's degree with major course work in Interior Design, Space Planning and/or Architecture or Science. Eight years of experience in commercial interior/architectural design to include three years supervisory experience. Successful completion of the LEADing Self Accelerate and/or LEADing Self Discover programs may substitute for one year of required supervisory or management experience. Completion of both programs can be substituted for a maximum of two years of supervisory or management experience. Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
