Financial Analyst - Patient Business Services

The Patient Business Services (PBS) provides MD Anderson Cancer Center, its patients and physicians with professional, accurate, efficient, responsive and compassionate patient accounting services. PBS will assure that fees for services are accurately reimbursed and that all governing billing and collection regulations are closely followed. PBS aims to create a supportive and integrated environment for patients, clinicians and employees throughout the revenue cycle.
SUMMARY
The primary purpose of the financial analyst position is to provide accounting and analytical duties for the PBS revenue cycle, which consists of billing, collections, customer service, denials management, etc. for all payors. Primary focus would be on contract precision and independent dispute resolution process. Responsibilities include preparation of monthly contract precision reports, analytical reviews and trend analysis, continual monitoring of AR and communications with appropriate parties. Identifies potential problems and presents proactive solutions to enhance collections and streamline processes. Responsible for the overall activities of the independent dispute resolution process. Submitting claims that qualify, communicating with plans through informal negotiations, scheduling mediations for management, and communicating with all parties timely. Creates, maintains and communicates relevant information regarding the AR that is outstanding due to contract precision results.
The ideal candidate will have at least two years of business experience to include project management, data analysis, or accounting experience in a healthcare industry. This position is located in the Texas Medical Center and is Hybrid Onsite/Remote. The work schedule will be Monday - Friday 8AM-5PM.
Key Functions
1.Prepares and distributes monthly financial management reports related to revenue cycle, with focus on contract precision and independent dispute resolution claims.
2. Maintains schedule of payor review for contract precision. Communicating findings to management and compiling data to submit to payor for review.
3. Works with payor representatives to resolve any inquiries on the data and to follow-up on status of payment
4. Communicates findings to management to assist in developing recommendations for capture of variances
5. Responsible for maintaining data for the Texas Department of Insurance Independent Dispute Resolution claim submission with updated status on each claim
6. Ensures deadlines are met for each step in the Texas Department of Insurance Independent Dispute Resolution process
7. Prepares summaries of each claim that goes to mediation for Legal Services and PBS management for memo preparation
8. Assists with scheduling mediations and communicating with payor representatives
9. Creates monthly report of status of each claim with amount recovered and amount applied to No Surprises Act adjustment
10. Prepares documentation for internal audit or institutional compliance as requested
11. Performs quality assurance reviews of RPA tool for contract precision
12. Assists with AR projects to enhance operational efficiencies.

EDUCATION
- Required: Bachelor's Degree Business Administration or related business specialty.
WORK EXPERIENCE
- Required: 2 years Business experience to include project management, data analysis or accounting.
- Preferred: Must have experience working in a healthcare environment.
