The primary purpose of the Grant Assistant position is to provide administrative support for the institution’s grant, contracts, MTA and internal funding review process.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

Assist in review of research funding applications  
Under supervision of Sr. Grant Administrator, assists with performing comparative review of grants and sponsored agreements (primarily JITs, advance set ups, and progress reports) before they are submitted to sponsor. Assists Grant Administrators in preparation of review and submission to department for any needed corrections.

Assist in processing contracts in the RCTS/Click Grants system   
Assists with performing comparative review of contracts and agreements before they are routed for signature. Assists with routing of contracts for signatures and assists team with award set-up.

Assist in processing Material Transfer Agreements (MTAs)   
Assists with performing comparative review of MTA requests before they are routed for compliance review and signature. Routes MTAs for signature and fully executes in MTA portal. 

Review for compliance of research funding applications.    
Assists with performing comparative review of funded research projects to include grants and sponsored agreements with OPR, IACUC, IBC, Stem Cell and Radiation protocols. Supports team in resolving outstanding issues in an effort to complete compliance review.

Assist in review of CPRIT applications prior to submission and assist with post award reporting.   
Assists with performing comparative review of CPRIT grant applications (primarily CPRIT progress reports) before they are submitted to the department for any needed corrections. 
 

Education

Required: High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred: Bachelor's degree.

Experience

Required: Four years of experience in research administration, project management or related field to include two years experience in sponsored programs. With preferred degree, no experience required.
