Lead Phlebotomist - League City
On any given day, the 200+ Diagnostic Laboratory Services team members collect blood specimen to support patient care for 1500 to 2000 ambulatory patients, and 500 to 600 inpatients, 90% of the time, the Ambulatory Lab Visit is completed in less than 20 minutes from check in to band aid on the arm, and 90% of the time, inpatient AM lab collections are completed by 8AM.
The team works to keep our patients and staff safe; provide outstanding patient experience; treat our patients and each other with respect and kindness; and strive to provide patient care in a professional and courteous manner.
The ideal candidate is a skilled and reliable phlebotomist who performs venipuncture, arterial draws, and blood culture collections with accuracy and confidence. They follow all policies and safety protocols, ensure proper patient identification, and maintain specimen integrity at all times. This candidate works efficiently with minimal supervision, supports team members, assists in training new staff, and is committed to continuous learning and maintaining a safe environment for patients and coworkers.
The typical work schedule is Monday–Friday, 8am-4:30pm, no weekends or holidays however, subject to change. Initial or remedial training will be completed at the Medical Center for one month.
Work Location: League City location
The salary range is $43,000 - $54,000 - $65,000

Performs phlebotomy procedures in a competent manner.
• Demonstrates competency via direct observation and assessment for the following phlebotomy procedures:
o Venipuncture
o Arterial Puncture - Inpatient
o Blood Culture Collection for Bottles or Isolator Tubes
o Isolation Room Procedures
o Age Specific Skills
• Completes assignment without undue reliance on others.

Adheres to applicable policies, procedures, and protocols
• Performs all phlebotomy procedures in accordance with the section’s procedure manual.
• Accurately identifies patient and collects the correct specimens.
• Maintains specimen integrity by collecting and transporting specimens in a timely manner.
• Completes records (electronic and paper) and files as appropriate.
• Assists co-workers as required
Complies with all safety policies
- Assists in ensuring a safe environment for patients, co-workers, and visitors.
- Utilizes all equipment and supplies in a manner that ensures safety to patients, co-workers and self.
- Wears protective attire and personal protective equipment in accordance with regulatory, institutional, and divisional requirements.
- Participates in all required safety training.
EDUCATION
- Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
WORK EXPERIENCE
- Required: Five years Phlebotomy experience in a clinical laboratory or blood center to include one year of project coordination, lead or supervisory experience.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
- Required: Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Upon Hire and
- Required: CPT - Phlebotomy Technician Certification American Society of Clinical Pathologist Board of Registry (BOR) or American Certification Agency (ACA) or National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT). Upon Hire or
