Manager, Business Operations - Nursing Administration
The primary purpose of the Manager, Business Services position is to support the inpatient units and nursing departments. The candidate is responsible for all business activities including fiscal and budget affairs, human resource management, coordination of business operation systems, and other activities essential to the successful operations of the unit or department. The manager works with a multidisciplinary team that includes physicians, nurses, other care providers and non-clinical staff, to maintain an environment that is responsive to the needs of the patients.
The ideal candidate will be a strategic and analytical professional with proven expertise in budget activities and financial management within a complex healthcare or academic environment. They will demonstrate strong analytical thinking skills to prepare, justify, and administer operating and capital budgets, ensuring alignment with institutional guidelines and divisional strategic plans. This individual will excel at monitoring monthly financial performance, interpreting key metrics, and providing actionable insights to optimize resource allocation. Overall, this candidate will combine financial acumen, operational insight, and collaborative leadership to support the success and sustainability of the units and departments.
This role is hybrid with onsite presence required at least 2 days a week. The first 90 days may require daily onsite presence for training and acclimating to the department.
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
Budget Activities and Financial Management - In collaboration with unit leadership,
prepare, justify, and administer operating and capital budgets for the units/departments
and their programmatic areas within institutional guidelines and in accordance with
divisional strategic plans.
Work with unit leadership to monitor monthly financial performance, demonstrating
Analytical Thinking in the complex analysis of key metrics, position control, expense
categories, expense justification reviews, and ensures appropriate allocation of expenses,
funds, and positions.
Train and educate departmental staff on understanding, interpreting and utilizing of
financial information.Build Relationships and work in collaboration with departmental and unit leadership,
maintain and process procurements, enhance revenue and charge capture, reconcile
accounts, monitor pro card usage, perform ad hoc unit reporting/analysis, and assist with
assigned Human Resource divisional duties, such as merits, etc.
Develops strategic business plans in association with the units/departments leadership,
including short-term and long-term financial goals.
Productivity and Operational Analysis - Serves as the primary contact and liaison for
the units/departments for issues pertaining to units/departments scheduling, productivity,
position reviews, and operations issues.
Audits and Monitors use of Kronos scheduling system for each operating unit.
Demonstrate Innovative Thinking and collaborate with multidisciplinary team members
on various unit or divisional operational projects, such as unit move coordination, etc.
Participates along with project leadership to implement and integrate new quality
initiatives and performance improvement projects.
Information System Support - Interfaces with the information systems support group
to manage computer hardware and software needs within the units/departments.
Develops strategies using information systems to manage and improve unit/department
effectiveness.
Participates along with project leadership to implement and integrate new I.S. initiatives
and technologies for process improvement.

EDUCATION
- Required: Bachelor's Degree Business Administration, Healthcare or related field.
- Preferred: Master's Degree Business Administration.
WORK EXPERIENCE
- Required: 5 years Professional health care or business management experience, to include three years in a lead or supervisory capacity. or
- Required: 3 years Required experience in a lead/supervisory capacity with preferred degree.
- : Successful completion of the LEADing Self Accelerate and/or LEADing Self Discover programs may substitute for one year of required supervisory or management experience. Completion of both programs can be substituted for a maximum of two years of supervisory or management experience.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
