The Radiation Oncology Brachytherapy team provides advanced cancer treatment using internal radiation therapy. This specialized approach requires precision, collaboration, and a strong focus on patient safety and comfort. The team works in a dynamic, high-volume environment to deliver exceptional care and support throughout complex procedures.
 
The primary purpose of the Medical Assistant position is to serve as a lead assistant during brachytherapy procedures. This role involves direct patient care, preparation of procedural rooms, sterile processing of instruments, and support for the multidisciplinary team to ensure efficiency and continuity of care.
 
The ideal candidate has experience in a clinical or procedural setting, preferably with exposure to radiation therapy or oncology. They demonstrate strong technical skills, knowledge of sterile techniques, and proficiency in institutional systems for patient data management. Excellent communication, teamwork, and time management are essential, along with a proactive approach to assisting colleagues and maintaining a safe environment.
 
The typical work schedule is Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm, with rare late evenings for occasional coverage. No weekends or holidays are required.
 
Hourly breakdown of salary range: Minimum $20.67 – Midpoint $25.96 – Maximum $31.25

Key Job Functions
  • Assist with brachytherapy procedures, including scrubbing and sterile tray preparation
  • Support patient care activities such as greeting, rooming, vitals, and discharge
  • Maintain procedural rooms and ensure timely turnover and stocking
  • Collect and document biopsy specimens and patient information accurately
  • Operate institutional systems for data entry and communication
  • Perform sterile processing of instruments and adhere to OSHA standards
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to address patient needs and resolve conflicts professionally
  • Monitor inventory and order supplies as needed
  • Participate in unit projects to improve patient outcomes
  • Provide superior customer service to patients, families, and colleagues

EDUCATION

  • Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Preferred: Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program or US Military medical services training program.

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Required: 1 year Medical assistant experience. or
  • Required: With preferred education no experience is required.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • Preferred: CMA - Certified Medical Asst American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA). Upon Hire
  • Preferred: RMA - Reg Medical Assistant American Society of Medical Technologists (AMT). Upon Hire
  • Preferred: CCMA - Cert Clinical Medical Asst National Health career Association (NHA). Upon Hire
  • Preferred: National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA)-NCTT National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT). Upon Hire
  • Preferred: Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Upon Hire
