Medical Assistant - Gynecologic Oncology Center
Seeking an experienced Medical Assistant to join our team at MD Anderson’s Laura Lee Blanton Gynecologic Oncology Center. We offer the most advanced treatment options for gynecologic cancers, including radical trachelectomy and other techniques that preserve child-bearing ability and sexual function.
• Our research changed the global standard for cervical cancer by proving chemotherapy plus radiation is more effective than radiation alone.
• We developed the MD Anderson Algorithm, improving ovarian cancer surgery outcomes and increasing complete tumor removal rates.
The ideal candidate will have at least 1 year of Medical Assistant experience. CMA / RMA certification preferred. The schedule for this position is Monday - Friday, 8 hour day shift. Must have flexibility to rotate Saturday clinic.

KEY FUNCTIONS
• Assist with patient examinations, treatments, and procedures.
• Prepare and stock rooms; escort patients to exam rooms.
• Obtain vital signs and prepare patients for physician care.
• Document patient care entries and completed lab work in medical records.
• Review and sort incoming lab results; forward reports for review.
• Collect laboratory specimens and perform waived testing (e.g., finger stick glucose, EKG).
• Transport patients for discharge or transfer within the hospital.
• Position, lift, and move patients as needed.
• Clean, store, and maintain medical equipment.
• Maintain inventory of laboratory and medical supplies.
• Process required paperwork and instruct patients on test preparations.
EDUCATION
- Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent and Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program including externship/practicum. OR
- Preferred: Graduate of a U.S. Military medical services training program.
WORK EXPERIENCE
- Required: 1 year Medical Assistant experience.
- Required: No experience required with completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program (including externship/practicum) or U.S. Military medical training.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
- Preferred: Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Upon Hire and
- Preferred: CMA - Certified Medical Assistant American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA). Upon Hire or
- Preferred: RMA - Registered Medical Assistant American Society of Medical Technologists (AMT). Upon Hire or
- Preferred: CCMA - Certified Clinical Medical Assistant National Healthcareer Association (NHA). Upon Hire or
