Medical Assistant - Lymphoma / Myeloma Center
Seeking an experienced Medical Assistant to join one of the world's most respected centers devoted exclusively to cancer patient care, research, education and prevention.
As one of the few comprehensive programs in the country, MD Anderson’s Lymphoma and Myeloma Center is known for its groundbreaking treatments and leading diagnostic techniques. The Lymphoma and Myeloma Center’s pathologists are specially trained to accurately diagnose and stage all types of lymphoma and myeloma, which is important for choosing the most effective treatment plan. Our diagnostic expertise covers rare lymphomas that most pathologists will never encounter and offers a range of innovative treatment options, including targeted therapies, vaccines and radio-immunotherapy, as well as clinical trials for new and relapsed disease.
The ideal candidate will have at least 1 year of experience. CMA or RMA certification is preferred but not required. Ideal candidates are organized, strong communicators, and flexible, with a preference for those who have adult oncology experience. The schedule is Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm.

KEY FUCTIONS
• Assists with patient examinations, treatments and procedures.
• Assists nurses with preparing clinics for the day.
• Prepare exam rooms prior to patients’ arrival.
• Escorts patients into the room along with required paperwork to facilitate clinic visit.
• Obtains vital signs and prepares patients for physician's care. Notifies nurse of abnormal parameters.
• Documents accurately in the medical record patient care entries and completed lab work.
• Reviews and sorts incoming lab results and forwards reports for review. Collects and transports laboratory specimens. Instructs patients as to test preparations according to planned procedure.
• Cleans, stores, prepares and coordinates maintenance of medical equipment.
• Maintains inventories of medical supplies. Stocks exam rooms with required levels of supplies.
• Reports any equipment in need of repair/maintenance to Nurse Manager, CAD or CBM.
Other Duties as Assigned.
EDUCATION
- Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Preferred: Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program or US Military medical services training program.
WORK EXPERIENCE
- Required: 1 year Medical assistant experience. With preferred education no experience is required.
- Preferred: Adult Oncology experience.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
- Preferred: CMA - Certified Medical Assistant American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA). Upon Hire
- Preferred: RMA - Registered Medical Assistant American Society of Medical Technologists (AMT). Upon Hire
- Preferred: CCMA - Certified Clinical Medical Assistant National Healthcareer Association (NHA). Upon Hire
- Preferred: National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA)-NCTT National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT). Upon Hire
- Preferred: Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Upon Hire
