Medical Assistant - Pediatrics & Young Adult
Join MD Anderson’s Pediatrics – Child & Adolescent Center as a Medical Assistant and play an important role in creating a safe, supportive, and positive experience for children, adolescents, young adults, and their families. You’ll provide hands-on patient care support while working alongside nurses and other members of the healthcare team in a specialized outpatient environment at one of the world’s leading cancer centers.

You’ll also help keep the center running smoothly by maintaining a clean, safe, and organized care environment, stocking patient care supplies and equipment, and providing reliable and courteous service to patients, caregivers, referring physicians, and coworkers. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma, Medical Assistant certification/registration, and at least one year of directly related experience, preferably in pediatrics or oncology. You’ll also enjoy a consistent Monday–Friday schedule, with the option of four 10-hour shifts from 7:30 a.m.–6:00 p.m. with a rotating weekday off or five 8-hour shifts from 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
Assist Staff
a. Responsibilities include completion of routine patient care assignments as delegated.
b. Accurately record vital signs and other data, report abnormalities to nursing staff.
Assists Patients- Aids in completion of activities of daily living, mobilization, greeting, rooming, and vital signs all members of the heath care team.
Work Environment
a. Maintains environment in a clean, safe, and orderly manner
b. Stock and maintain unit and patient care supplies and equipment

Education
Required:
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
Preferred:
• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program including externship/practicum OR
• Graduate of a U.S. Military medical services training program
Work Experience
Required:
• 1 year of Medical Assistant experience OR
• No experience required with completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program (including externship/practicum) or U.S. Military medical training
Licenses and Certifications
Preferred (upon hire):
• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) AND
• CMA – Certified Medical Assistant, American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) OR
• RMA – Registered Medical Assistant, American Society of Medical Technologists (AMT) OR
• CCMA – Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, National Healthcareer Association (NHA) OR
• National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) – NCTT, National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
