Medical Assistant - Thoracic Center

Seeking and experienced Medical Assistant to join one of the world's most respected centers devoted exclusively to cancer patient care, research, education and prevention.  MD Anderson’s Thoracic Center provides personalized care for every type and stage of lung cancer and other cancers in the chest region. The ideal candidate brings at least one year of MA experience, along with the ability to stay adaptable in a fast paced clinical setting. They excel in high volume workflows, maintain strong patient care standards, and hold MA certification—preferred but not required. The primary schedule will be Monday – Friday, 8am-5pm.

The Medical Assistant will assist with multiple clinic operational activities, while in collaboration with clinical nurse, thoracic medical oncologist, thoracic surgeons, Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), residents, and other multidisciplinary team members. 
Must be able to follow instruction, practice independently, while establishing and maintaining positive cooperative working relationships, flexibility, interpersonal verbal and written communication skills, computer proficiency, organizational skills, problem solving skills, resourcefulness, and self-motivation.

KEY FUNCTIONS
•    Prepare clinics for the day.
•    Stock and prepare exam rooms.
•    Assist with pre and post-surgical patient supplies.
•    Assist with procedural setup.
•    Assist with patient administrative documents.
•    Obtain patient vital signs.
•    Perform accurate entry of patient information in medical record while providing rooming documentation support.
•    Notification of abnormal parameters to the clinical nurse.
•    Safely escort and transport patients in wheelchairs/stretchers.
•    Clean, store, prepare, coordinate, and report any equipment in need of repair/maintenance; audit and maintain inventory of medical supplies.
•    Other duties assigned.
