Patient Service Coordinator  - General Internal Medicine 

The General Internal Medicine unit is a 25-bed medical oncology unit providing care to adult and geriatric patients ranging in age from 18 – 95. Four monitored beds are designated for melanoma, renal cell carcinoma, sarcoma, cervical, ovarian, thoracic and pancreatic cancer patients receiving high-dose bolus interleukin-2 and/or targeted cellular therapy requiring cardiac monitoring. Primary populations treated include: melanoma, sarcoma and GI patients receiving complex chemotherapeutic and bio-immunotherapeutic regimens and all solid tumor cancer patients receiving immune effector cell therapy.

Ideal candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent and 3 years relevant work experience. Good customer service and communication skills is key as you will be interacting with patients, family members, staff and physicians in person and over the phone. Scheduling patient’s visits and physician’s appointments.

Working Hours: The working hours for this role will be two12 hour shifts (7a-7p) and two 8 hours shifts (7a-3p) 4 days a week.

Essential Job Functions

•    Schedules provider appointments, diagnostic tests, procedures, and treatments.
•    Prepares and maintains daily appointment templates and/or patient records in One Connect.
•    Communicates pertinent information to families, physicians, team members, and other patient care areas.
•    Prepares patient materials and documentation according to established procedures.
•    Collects co-payments and validates patient insurance and demographic information.
•    Updates patient and payment information in the system.
•    Reconciles the One Connect cash drawer daily.
•    Performs validation of the Medicare Secondary Payer Questionnaire (MSPQ).
•    Ensures coordination of benefits and proper assignment of the Hospital Account Record (HAR).
•    Follows all standard operating procedures for the institution and center.
•    Protects the security and confidentiality of patient information at all times.
 



Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION

  • Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Preferred: Associate's Degree

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Required: 3 years Relevant work experience. or
  • : Additional education may be substituted for required experience on a one-to-one basis.
