The Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG) Program at MD Anderson provides critical infrastructure funding to support cancer research across the institution. This program ensures MD Anderson maintains its designation as a Comprehensive Cancer Center by the National Cancer Institute (NCI), which is essential for advancing innovative cancer research and improving patient outcomes.
The CCSG Program Manager is responsible for managing administrative and grants-related activities for the CCSG, including daily operations, annual reporting, and competitive renewal processes. This role ensures compliance with NCI guidelines, supports strategic planning, and facilitates efficient data management and reporting.
 
 
The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s degree in a related field and has experience in research administration, including pre- and post-award processes and knowledge of grant cycles. Proficiency in managing large datasets and advanced Excel skills are essential. Strong organizational, communication, and project management abilities are highly valued, along with experience in coordinating complex, multi-departmental projects.
 
 
The typical work schedule is Monday – Friday, standard business hours, with occasional flexibility required for deadlines and meetings.
 
 
Hourly breakdown of salary range: Minimum $37.98 – Midpoint $47.59 – Maximum $57.21

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure compliance with CCSG guidelines and NCI expectations.
  • Collaborate with CCSG leadership and data scientists to analyze and communicate data.
  • Develop and implement administrative processes for efficient data collection and reporting.
  • Prepare CCSG-related reports and presentations for leadership.
  • Manage developmental funds and research pilot award programs.
  • Coordinate annual CCSG progress reports, External Advisory Board meetings, and competitive renewal processes.
  • Organize kickoff meetings and prepare guidance materials for section authors.
  • Archive and format all CCSG deliverables for submission.
  • Submit CCSG reports through ASSIST, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION

  • Required: Bachelor's Degree
  • Preferred: Master's Degree

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Required: 5 years Related experience to include three years program management. or
  • Required: 3 years Experience required with Master's degree.
  • May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis.
  • Preferred:  More than 5 years experience in grants management pre- and post-award research administration, providing administrative management support to executive/senior leaders of large organizations, meeting coordination, event planning and execution. At least 1 year of project management experience. Strong communication, organizational, and data analytics skills and demonstrated expertise with computer software and Microsoft office programs. Ability to process large amounts of information quickly. Experience working in a team environment. CCSG experience. Experience working with large datasets.

     

  •  Preferred: Certificate in Research Administration, Certificate in Project Management
