SUMMARY
The Research Assistant I will support studies on clinical trial participation, focusing on barriers and facilitators of patient accrual. They will contribute to both quantitative and qualitative data analysis, and assist with abstracts, reports, and presentations. The position involves coordination with members of the clinical trial network, maintaining partnerships, and gathering study data. This role is designed for a recent graduate in the biomedical sciences with a strong interest in clinical and translational research.
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
Research
· Quantitative Data Analysis: Performs statistical analysis of clinical research data using tools such as Excel, SPSS, R, or SAS to identify trends, barriers, and outcomes in clinical trial participation.
· Qualitative Data Analysis: Conducts thematic analysis of interview transcripts, survey responses, or focus group data to understand patient and provider perspectives.
· Scientific Writing: Contributes to drafting abstracts, posters, and manuscripts for scientific meetings and peer-reviewed publications. Assists team to provide analyze and interpret program data and prepare data reports/summaries.
· Presentation Preparation: Creates clear, data-driven presentations and visualizations for research team meetings, stakeholders, and conferences.
· Research Design Support: Supports development of research protocols, IRB processes, and data collection methods to ensure compliance with institutional and federal guidelines.
· Clinical Trial Operations Awareness: Understands the basics of clinical trial conduct, patient accrual processes, and common barriers to participation.
· Database Management: Supports database management, and has ability to enter, clean, and manage datasets accurately using REDCap or similar data management platforms.
· Stakeholder Engagement: Capacity to build and maintain professional relationships with members of the clinical trial network, including research staff at partner sites.
· Communication Skills: Demonstrates strong interpersonal and written communication skills to facilitate collaboration with investigators, research coordinators, and community partners.
· Organizational Skills: Demonstrates proven ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to evolving project needs in a fast-paced research environment.
