UT MD Anderson is a leading institution focused on cancer care, research, education, and prevention. The Research Assistant I in Neuro-Oncology supports important research activities that contribute to advancing scientific knowledge and improving outcomes for patients with neurological cancers.

Within the Neuro-Oncology research environment, the Research Assistant I in Neuro-Oncology plays a key role in biospecimen management, data collection, and reporting activities. The Research Assistant I in Neuro-Oncology works closely with investigators and research colleagues to ensure accurate records, proper sample handling, and reliable data support for ongoing studies at UT MD Anderson.

The ideal candidate for this role demonstrates strong attention to detail, effective communication skills, and the ability to accurately manage research-related records and biospecimen tracking. Experience supporting research activities, maintaining databases, and performing basic data analysis is valuable.

This position will require travel between buildings several times a day. 

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

Research experiments and projects:  Acts as courier for samples collected in the clinic on Neuro-Oncology studies and gets them to the lab. Follows the proper guidelines for sample transfer that the team follows.

Data gathering and analysis:  Maintains accurate, detailed records on patient and biospecimens being collected and transferred on the protocols. Utilizes institutional databases to record and evaluate data in accordance with methods requested.  

Data analysis:  Communicate results to and understand instructions from principal investigator and colleagues.  Helps in pulling reports and working on basic data analysis.

EDUCATION:
Required: Bachelor's Degree Basic Science.
Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Biology/ Biomedical.


EXPERIENCE:
Required: None.
Preferred: Six to one year of some lab sample processing experience. Wet lab experience.
