Research Laboratory Manager Integrative Medicine Research
The Research Lab Manager at UT MD Anderson provides advanced technical and managerial support for laboratory-based research programs within Integrative Medicine Research. The Research Lab Manager works closely with the Principal Investigator to oversee daily laboratory operations, support complex preclinical and translational research projects, and ensure regulatory and institutional compliance while maintaining a high-functioning research environment.

Responsibilities
• Assist the Principal Investigator with scientific research projects involving molecular, biochemical, biophysical, and physiological approaches
• Perform bench-based experiments including mammalian cancer and tumor cell culture and functional assays
• Conduct assays related to cell proliferation, cell death, invasion, migration, voltage potential, and mechanism-based studies
• Independently design and initiate research experiments and validate targets, optimize compound selection, and explore therapeutic potential
• Plan experiments based on results and troubleshoot experimental challenges using critical thinking and prior knowledge
• Perform DNA, RNA, and protein extraction, quantification, and analysis
• Conduct agarose and polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and hybridization techniques including Southern, Northern, Western blots, and in situ hybridization
• Perform real-time quantitative RT-PCR, PCR, primer design, recombinant DNA cloning, subcloning, restriction mapping, BAC clone use, and DNA sequence analysis
• Analyze small molecules or metabolites using LC/MS-MS instrumentation
• Conduct animal maintenance, inventory management, breeding, anesthesia, euthanasia, genotyping, and treatment administration
• Perform intravenous, intraperitoneal, gavage, and other treatment delivery methods
• Assist with animal imaging procedures and tissue harvesting
• Support managerial duties including planning training and research activities for assigned laboratory personnel
• Supervise job performance and ensure personnel have required supplies and resources
• Maintain laboratory compliance with institutional and regulatory guidelines
• Prepare, edit, and submit IBC protocols and maintain laboratory safety documentation and chemical inventories
• Submit and track laboratory orders using FileMaker and iLAB and maintain updated CFS and vendor records
• Monitor workflow, plan supply needs, maintain equipment, and prepare stock solutions
• Assist with sample collection, biomarker analysis, and data analysis from human clinical trials
• Collect, store, and perform preliminary analysis of research and clinical data in accordance with approved protocols
• Compile, write, and submit project results to Principal Investigators and collaborating investigators
• Organize laboratory activities and obtain permissions for visitors, contracts, and interns
• Supervise and train new laboratory personnel and interns
• Collaborate with technicians, students, postdoctoral fellows, visiting scientists, and staff using established scientific protocols

EDUCATION:
Required: Bachelor's Degree
Preferred: Master's Degree One of the natural sciences or related field.
EXPERIENCE:
Required: Seven years scientific, research or clinical laboratory, to include four years in a supervisory/managerial capacity. With Master's degree, five years in a supervisory/managerial capacity, with Master's degree. Successful completion of the LEADing Self Accelerate program may substitute for one year of required supervisory or management experience. LEADing Self Accelerate program may substitute for one year of required supervisory or management experience.
Preferred: Experience in processing and analyzing multi omic datasets, with a strong emphasis on single cell sequencing and spatial transcriptomics.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
