Ideal candidate will have High School Diploma and 2 years of Pharmacy Technician experience in a retail, infusion or hospital setting. Highly Prefer at least one year of IV sterile preparation experience, ACPE IV Sterile Products Competency

Working Hours

The Working hours will be 10:30 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. Onsite required.

Hourly Breakdown: Minimum - $23.80 – Midpoint - $29.81 – Maximum - $35.82

Key Responsibilities

Senior Tech Proficiencies

Sterile Compounding / Preparation

Demonstrates proficiency—meeting accuracy and productivity standards—in:

  • Hazardous and non-hazardous sterile preparation
  • Investigational drug preparation (Phase 1, 2, and 3)
  • Viral/BCG/vaccine preparation
  • Intrathecal preparations
  • Ambulatory pumps
  • High-risk sterile validation

 IV Preparation

  • Follows all SOPs and safety standards (USP 797, USP 800, NIOSH) when handling, preparing, and disposing of hazardous drugs
  • Reports and documents chemotherapy spills
  • Demonstrates correct use of a closed system and maintains competency
  • Prepares investigational doses by:
    • Reading the datasheet
    • Following protocol directions
    • Exercising care during admixing
    • Documenting thoroughly on investigational cards
    • Consulting a pharmacist when needed
  • Completes annual or semi-annual process validations
  • Demonstrates strong pharmacy math skills
  • Manages time efficiently with high productivity
  • Maintains system proficiency, including:
    • BD Cato
    • Phacts
    • OneConnect
    • Controlled access cabinets

 

Qualifications - External

Requirements

Education Required: High school diploma or equivalent.

Education Preferred:  Certificate from an accredited Pharmacy Technician training program or two years of college credit.

Licensure Required: Current Pharmacy Technician Registration with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP).

Experience Required: Two years pharmacy technician experience in a hospital, infusion center or retail pharmacy. 
 

Preferred Experience: Pharmacy experience in a variety of specialized areas and functions. 

Supervision Given:  None.

Supervision Received:  Technician Supervisor.

Other Required: 

This position may be responsible for maintaining the security and integrity of critical infrastructure, as defined in Section 113.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code and therefore may require routine reviews and screening. The ability to satisfy and maintain all requirements necessary to ensure the continued security and integrity of such infrastructure is a condition of hire and continued employment. Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
