Senior Photographer ( Brand Photography )
The Senior Photographer, Brand Photography, reports to the Associate Director of Photography and is responsible for delivering brand-appropriate general photography. This includes editorial portraits of executives, clinicians, faculty, and staff, as well as event, architectural, product, and other assigned projects. Strong technical and customer service skills are essential, along with the ability to interact with divisional/departmental colleagues, executives, faculty, and staff to capture the identity and personality of subjects using composition and lighting techniques.
This position will need to be flexible and willing to travel as needed to perform the duties of the position. This may include working weekends on occasion to attend various events.
The ideal candidate will be a well-rounded photographer with extensive experience in various types of photography. They should possess strong technical skills, particularly in understanding lighting. Adaptability to different situations and environments is crucial. The candidate should excel in crafting photos and moments. Experience in brand photography and commercial photography is essential.
General & Specialized Photography:
- Utilize skills to create publication-quality, brand-appropriate, storytelling photographs of staff, events, and environmental locations on and off the main campus, aligned with the mission of MD Anderson.
- Create impactful imagery for both traditional and emerging media formats, including all digital platforms.
- Demonstrate independent thinking and effective communication with leaders/executives, donors, and staff.
- Possess technical knowledge of equipment.
- Implement and recommend processes in photography, serve as a consultant to staff, and direct freelancers and interns to define the most impactful use of general photography in support of patient care, education, and research.
- Manage various assigned projects.
Planning & Post-Production:
- Collaborate with stakeholders in planning and preparing photo projects, including client scheduling, location scouting, equipment selection and transportation, and photo shoot execution.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to effectively post-process digital imagery, including tone and color corrections, retouching, and metadata application.
- Prepare and deliver images for client use and the digital archive.
Departmental Operations:
The Senior Photographer will assist the Associate Director of Photography in various roles, including assigning/scheduling staff, resolving client and scheduling issues, equipment maintenance and upgrades, workflow processes and improvements, and overall daily operations of general photography.
Manage other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION
Required: Bachelor's Degree in Photography or related field.
EXPERIENCE
Required: 5 years Photography experience. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis.
Preferred: Experience in large educational or medical photography department and/or commercial photography studio.
