The primary purpose of the Sr. Business System Analyst position is to elicit, analyze, and document requirements electronic medical record development using techniques such as brain storming, gap analysis, and work flow diagrams. Sr. Business Systems Analysts are required to develop clear and testable features and user stories, manage, review and accept backlog items, write well defined acceptance criteria with clearly identified “Definition of Done”.  The Sr.Business System Analysts must have an extensive understanding of the software development lifecycle and activities within each phase. Strong communication, written and facilitation skills are imperative as well as techniques to plan and manage the requirements process. Application deployment and training skills are also needed.

Requirements Elicitation  
Prepares in advanced for elicitation sessions 
- Has knowledge of and utilizes techniques and tools such as brainstorming, gap analysis, focus groups, observation, As-Is and To-Be workflows to obtain requirements
- Consistently works with Stakeholders to determine the business need and high level requirements
- Obtain complete, concise requirements with stakeholder approval within designated timeline
- Is assertive, defuses tense situations and facilitates requirement gathering sessions
- Demonstrates good written and oral communication skills. 
- Coordinates and facilitates work across different departments 
- Functions in the role as a Team or Project Lead

Requirements Analysis   
Determines other applications effected by new functionality and overlap 
- Outlines operational and implementation challenges and works to mitigate
- Evaluates existing enhancement requests which can be incorporated into current projects
- Develops report requirements and strategies for applications
- Performs technical assessments and evaluates proposed IT technologies and solutions to determine technical feasibility and compliance with industry and MDACC standards.
- Maintains current knowledge of requirements/mandates from JCAHO, CMS,
Institutional Policies & Procedures and other regulatory/accrediting bodies and incorporates them into the requirements

Requirements Documentation   
Demonstrates knowledge and application of Use Case Model, Use Case, UI -Specifications and Test Case documentation using UML methodology
- Documents unambiguous, succinct requirements
- Supplements requirements with workflow diagrams 
- Traces requirements consistently
- Efficiently updates documentation throughout review cycles
- Conducts peer review sessions and acts as resource 
- Write user stories, and maintain product backlog

System and Process Design   
- Develop & maintain understanding of customer workflows & business needs to support.
- Deliver precise functional specifications to include functional hierarchy, workflow, business rules, interface design & definitions, outstanding issues, data analysis, & data mapping to clients.
- Be responsible for direct interaction with clients including, but not limited to, eliciting comprehensive requirements & use cases and recommended appropriate solutions.
- Gather requirements & help build and document specification for development.
- Work with development team to develop high level labor estimates to develop and deploy functionality.
- Conduct gap analysis between application and customer requirements and collaborates with developers to estimate project impact.
- Work with development and QA teams to communicate, verify, and test the desired functionality changes.
- Work with clients to demonstrate the new system or changes to the system to ensure all relevant business needs are addressed.
- Perform QA of project deliverables

Implementation   
- Develop training materials and provide training in one-on-one or classroom environment.
- Prepares and conducts continuing education training sessions for users and coworkers, as necessary. 
- Develops role-based programs and supporting materials for end-user training using principles of adult learning
- Provides go-live support during rollout period    

EDI Application Support and On-Call   
- Provides on-going support and training (as needed) of the applications developed and supported by EDI.  
- Provides problem-solving expertise for all aspects of EDI applications / functionality.
- Coordinates technical efforts with Development and Release Management Teams.  
- Maintains effective communications with customers, EDI teams and EDI Leadership.
- Shares on-call responsibility for applications/systems supported by the EDI during evening hours, weekends and holidays.

General    
-Manage multiple competing priorities through effective organization and communication.
- Understanding of business analysis principle, processes, and techniques.
- Ability to develop and prepare use cases, functional specifications, and technical requirements.
- Ability to understand and represent the needs of the end user in a software development environment.
- Coordinates and facilitates work across different departments.
- Functions in the role as a Team or Project Lead.
- Excellent written and verbal communications.
- Strong consultative and advisory skills.
- Demonstrates positive working relationships with EDI staff, EDI Leadership, and customers. 
- Maintains effective communications with customers, EDI teams and EDI Leadership.
- Provides effective service delivery through cooperation and courtesy with others.
- Provides timely and accurate reports to Manager, Associate Director and/or Director.
- Performs other duties as assigned by Manager, Associate Director and/or Director.

Education Required:
Bachelor's degree.

Certification Required:
None

Preferred Certification: 
CBAP - Certified Business Analysis Professional
CSPO – Certified Scrum Product Owner

Experience: 
Five years experience in domain, project management, workflow analysis or Epic software. May substitute require education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis.
