Student Extern - Innovation
Summary:
The extern will support the day-to-day visioning and implementation of MD Anderson’s institutional strategic plans to deliver value impactful innovations. Activities may include supporting innovation team members in conducting research, creating strategy based on research conducted, and help with implementation of strategies.
The Innovation extern will enable transformational change by supporting the innovation team at MD Anderson in:
Engage with patients, caregivers and employees across MD Anderson to understand needs
Synthesize insights to find gaps/opportunities
Assist in designing and developing presentations
Synthesize recommendations
Support business planning process
Implement and advance innovative solutions
Help develop metrics for quantifying and tracking
Collaborate with cross disciplinary teams to enable change through Human-Centered-Design

Required Education: High school diploma or equivalent. College bound or in-college students.
Preferred Education: Master degrees related to innovation, business, MBA, design, human computer interaction.
Required Experience: No experience required.
Preferred Experience: The preferred candidate will have an interest in human-centered-design, service design, design strategy, business strategy, innovative problem solving skills.
Work Schedule: Hybrid Onsite/Remote schedule. This team typically goes into the office once a week to collaborate. Some teams go into the office more often depending on the needs of the project work.
This position may be responsible for maintaining the security and integrity of critical infrastructure, as defined in Section 113.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code and therefore may require routine reviews and screening. The ability to satisfy and maintain all requirements necessary to ensure the continued security and integrity of such infrastructure is a condition of hire and continued employment.
